Living environment:
The Tolhuis district is named after the toll house, which still stands on the Teersdijk, the old toll road from Nijmegen to Grave. Tolhuis and Weezenhof are the last neighborhoods built in Dukenburg and date from the early 1970s. It is a real residential neighborhood with some businesses and stores on the north side along the van Rozenburgweg; there is no industry. The neighborhood has much more low-rise than medium- and high-rise buildings and is characterized by a lot of greenery, mainly in strips scattered between the low-rise buildings; a larger continuous green area is formed by the Douglasbosje and the Grand Canal, remnants of the former Dukenburg estate. The neighborhood contains an elementary school that is also a community school. A former school houses the Creatief Centrum Nijmegen-Zuid, and along the van Rozenburgweg there is an ice skating rink and a climbing hall as suburban facilities. Tolhuis itself also makes use of suburban facilities elsewhere in Dukenburg, which are mainly located in the districts of Zwanenveld (Dukenburg shopping center) and Meijhorst (Dukenburg community center, swimming pool, church, general practitioners and dentists, market).

Recreation area "The Berendonck".
The area is about 160 hectares in size and is located west of the A73, on the border with the municipality of Nijmegen. The area was created in 1976 and has a 45-hectare lake and several sandy beaches and sunbathing meadows. The northern part is intended for water recreation and the southern part has more of a nature destination and connects to nature reserve Wijchense Ven. The area is also home to the BurgGolf Wijchen Golf Club golf course. At the lake there is also underwater housing for the diving association and a boathouse of the Nijmegen Rescue Brigade. Events such as dance festival Emporium are also held there.
